which is the material used to wrap

Bolivian fashion designer Marion Macedo has created a line of brightly coloured dresses made of industrial rags, paper and other recycled materials that have some people thinking twice before tossing their trash.

Macedo, who has made a name for herself for creating eco-friendly fashions out of recycled paper, showed off her latest line during a La Paz fashion show on Thursday.

This year the environmentally conscious designer used natural dyes to bring a splash of colour to industrial wipes used for cleaning industrial sized printing presses.

The black stripes which break up the pastel hues of the bubbly evening wear are streaks left by the printing machines the reused material cleaned before Macedo dreamt up her innovative designs.

Other designs were made of recycled papier-maché, cardboard and even sawdust from local sawmills.

The designer also used reclaimed printing plates and craft papers to create accessories and detailed ornaments like the red flowers seen on this white evening gown.

"They are new materials, completely innovative.Super dazzling Round Chiffon Round Neck Beaded prom dresses is on sale. We are even using white rubber tops, filters, printer cleaners, soda tops, printing plates, match boxes.Free shipping and returns on New Arrival Sheath Evening dresses. I'd say the new thing is all the materials. We've made a turn. Our pillar is still paper and I think that if you want to use recycled materials we have to work with all materials."

Macedo has a growing fan base in Bolivia and beyond and her jewellery line has become a hot seller.

Fashion model Nicolle Figueredo showed off the pieces she was modelling including a bracelet made of old cookie cutters.

"My dress is made of Stampi plastic, which is the material used to wrap industrial dyes. The corset is fastened with ties. And my bracelet is made of cookie cutters used in the kitchen and my earrings are also made of Stampi plastic."

''Really wild! Really swinging! Open Monday thru to Saturday.'' So says the poster for the Victoria & Albert Boutique, in the MLC Building at North Sydney. This 1964 poster, slightly torn, is the first reference to an Australian fashion house that was to survive for another 40 years.

That wild and swinging North Sydney boutique lasted only six months before owners Patricia and Terry Burkitt relocated to a small space in Double Bay, where there was a greater demand for clothes in the style of Carnaby Street.

At first they stocked imports from London mainly, but in the late 1960s they had great success with a range of screen-printed T-shirts designed by Terry Burkitt. The best seller was one featuring the logo of the Earls Court Tube station, the preferred destination of young Australian expats.

The V&A boutique eventually moved to larger premises in Bay Street, where Patricia and Terry established their own fashion label in the 1970s, specialising in bespoke tailoring for celebrity clients. These included models Maggie Eckhardt and Bobo Faulkner, television presenter Sue Smith, businesswoman Elizabeth Dangar, even Sammy Davis jnr. He dropped in while on a concert tour, saw a floor-length leather coat they had made for his friend Cindy Leonetti and asked if he could have it. They made another one for her.

''Our clientele changed from pop to couture,'' Patricia Burkitt says. ''We started making clothes for cocktails, evening wear, the Melbourne Cup Carnival. We were not at all interested in doing a collection for retail. Our business was more like a private club. We designed for people we felt in tune with. Today we would probably be described as 'fashion stylists'.'' When she closed the business in 2004, she realised she had kept a lot of what she had designed during her career. In a sense, this was an edited history of Australian fashion.

The sale includes 215 lots ranging from the swinging '60s to the corporate '90s. One of the earliest examples is a canary-yellow pop art minidress by Hanni Wilson, a German designer then based in Sydney.Black Chiffon Ruffles With New Arrival Column Ruching Chiffon Prom dresses. It's included as part of Lot 297, with total estimates of $50 to $100. There are pieces from about 1970, when maxi dresses replaced the mini. Also included are original dresses from the 1920s, collected by the Burkitts as a source of inspiration for their own designs. My body looks best in dresses

My friend Caroline would always say that people would ask her if she was sick when she didn’t have any makeup on, and I had a hard time believing her until I crashed at her place and found myself asking her the same question in the morning. The “natural” look is not natural at all, as evidenced by the copious amounts of “no makeup” makeup tutorials on YouTube. It is rare that a woman without any makeup at all is complimented on her looks.

Pretty isn’t about how my face happens to look due to my genetic makeup. Pretty is about what I do with that, about my skills in the makeup department. Finally mastering the art of the false lash, I’ve noticed that the longer the pair I don, the more compliments I garner. “You’re so pretty!” “It’s just these lashes. They’re amazing!” We learn how to apply eyeshadow and mascara. We learn how to use concealer, lotions, foundation. We master the liquid eyeliner cat eye, we pluck or get our brows shaped to both complement our features and appeal to the fashions of the times. We gloss our lips up, and when we feel daring, we paint them red.

But it doesn’t stop with makeup. Pretty is also about hair. When I was in middle school, it was fashionable to have long, searching for the perfect discount 2013 Wholesale Cheap Bride Dresses. straight,Shop wholesale chiffon strapless beaded Crystals evening gowns from cheap.  shiny hair. My hair is naturally curly, but I hadn’t had a proper haircut until I was 12 so I hadn’t realized it was anything more than wavy. I was determined to get my hair to be just as beautiful as the popular girls at school,You Can Buy Various High Quality High Neck high neck wedding dresses gowns. so I stood at the mirror in the morning blow drying my hair with a barrel brush. I looked like Alice from Dilbert. I achieved the straight part, but I had terrible triangle hair.I'm just going to look at the new formal office dresses for women.

It wasn’t for a few years that I learned what products to put in my hair to work with it and not against it, to emphasize its desirable features while hiding frizz and puff and other unsightly characteristics. A suitable cut can also affect “pretty.” I found, rocking a shoulder length curly ‘do during my sophomore year of college, that my hair made me feel pretty enough that I didn’t need to put any makeup on. I also found, rocking a shaved head during my senior year of college, that my lack of hair necessitated an increased amount of makeup, as well as large jewelry. There is a certain level of “pretty” that I feel comfortable expressing myself with, and changing my hair up created a need to find balance.

Pretty is also affected by dress. It’s a pain in the ass to find clothes that fit nice, especially pants. The low rise pants, that have been fashionable since I’ve been of age to shop for them on my own, squeeze my fat in a decidedly un-pretty fashion. I have learned that certain cuts of dresses look more pretty on me than others. My body looks best in dresses that are fitted from right below the breast to just below my belly button. I have also learned the trick to getting a more “pretty” boob-belly ratio: wearing a push up bra. Heels are uncomfortable, but they make most every outfit a bit more pretty. It’s remarkable what a change a pair of heels will make to a tank top and leggings when compared to a pair of running shoes.

Posture makes pretty. A world of body woes can be washed away by learning to properly stick your boobs and butt out, put your shoulders back, and your chin up.

Pretty is artifice. Pretty is a construct, and a social construct at that. Pretty can be fun to do, to learn, to practice, to hone; but pretty can also be damaging. When I worked at Ben & Jerry’s during undergrad, I noticed that on days I wore makeup, people were nicer to me. Our society ascribes value to women based on how well they’ve achieved this artifice to suit current trends and values. A woman’s appearance is often discussed before or / and more than her personality, beliefs, passions, or achievements. Especially when those passions and achievements have nothing to do with creating this artifice.

Women are constantly down on themselves, comparing their mental image of what they look like in the bathroom mirror in the morning to what other women look like fully costumed in Pretty with pretty lighting and pretty scenery to boot. I recall a friend wallowing in sorrow and cyber stalking the new girlfriend of her ex. As she clicked through MySpace photos, she would complain to me that she was ugly and his new girl was beautiful. I had to point out to my friend that this girl had scores of makeup on. She, too, could put makeup on. This girl was not better than her.

They convinced facility workers to clear a space

During finals week in May, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law students Matthew Kriegsman and Kenneth Renov placed a bin in their school's lobby to collect textbooks students no longer needed. They thought they'd get a few dozen throughout the summer. Instead, they got 650.

The collection bins were the first step in a new loan program where students struggling to afford textbooks and workbooks can borrow them from the school and return them at the end of the semester.

Kriegsman, a 3L and vice president of the Student Bar Association, said he was shocked to see textbooks, often in near-perfect condition, thrown in the trash at year's end by students who simply didn't have time to resell books that decrease significantly in value when used—or who were so relieved to finish classes they never wanted to see the books again.

Last spring,Doublting where to buy Wholesale Bridesmaid gowns online? Renov, a 2L, approached Kriegsman with the idea for a lending library inspired by the Jewish tradition of sharing certain costly items, such as wedding dresses, within a group.

"It's the idea that there are some things that are really expensive, but they're very important and only used once. So they circulate through the community,Formal Wholesale Cheap Designer Long Evening Dresses and gowns will have you looking your best." Kriegsman said. "One of these books alone can cost up to $215. It's ridiculous."

And so with book donations rolling in, the pair put their negotiation skills to work. They convinced facility workers to clear a space in the building's basement to store the volumes on rows of old library shelves. They then worked with the office of student finance to devise an application for interested students. To participate,You can purchase Cheap Designer Celebrity gowns Online easily. students must meet a certain financial need threshold calculated by the office.

By scanning ISBN numbers, Kriegsman and Renov keep an updated database of available books, similar to a library catalog. If a book is in stock, it is delivered to the Office of Student Life for private pickup by the student. Students apply using only their numerical ID number to ensure anonymity.

About 45 of the donated textbooks came from professors who received free copies from publishers hoping they would assign them in class. Other donated books cannot be loaned because publishers have released revised editions. You can find quality Wholesale Cheap Designer Prom Dresses Online and evening gowns. Kriegsman hopes to gather enough such books to resell them in bulk so the program can give students in need a stipend toward the edition required in class.

Women gravitated to Pinterest's visual appeal early on; now the social network is making a concentrated effort to reach out to small businesses to start using the service as it seeks to expand its audience base.

Pinterest has yet to accept advertising - it's expected to start experimenting with monetization next year - but it's open for business for folks looking to market to consumers.

Pinterest, which reached 46 million visitors in July, according to measurement site ComScore, is a website and app that lets users "pin" photos and Web links of things they're interested in. You can browse categories to see what folks think of, say, wedding dresses, sunflowers and chicken pot pie, and businesses can post photos and links to try and grow their sales.

Pinterest recently introduced a new tool called "Rich Pins," which lets retailers provide extra information about what's being pinned. For instance, if online retailer Etsy displays an image,Find gorgeous mother of the bride dresses in Wholesale Cheap mother of the bride dresses. Pinterest also includes the price, size and color, says Evan Sharp, a Pinterest co-founder. "That helps us make it easier to discover."

Some businesses have had a hard time understanding Pinterest, he admits. "Pinterest takes a moment to 'get it.' If you don't take that moment, there's a little bit of a learning curve."

Esthere Gorovitsky, one of the finalists, said the pageant "gives me the opportunity to be with other women who have faced great adversity in their lives.searching for the perfect discount 2013 Wholesale Cheap Bride Dresses."

Dressed in a flattering black blouse and long skirt with silver beading, fashion styles of Wholesale Short Wedding Gowns, she told how, when she was 6 days old, her mother fled with her and her brother to Siberia.

Supporters of the pageants say the event, which featured live performances and even a comedian, is an affirmation of life and a boost to the contestants' self-esteem. Detractors call the concept "distasteful," saying it capitalizes on the victims' vulnerability.

When it was introduced for the first time last year, the Miss Holocaust Survivor Beauty Pageant elicited both kudos and criticism from Israelis, many of whom lost family at the hands of the Nazis.

Israel was created three years after the end of World War II,One Wholesale Cheap Designer Womens Long cocktail dresses manufacturers China listing. largely as a refuge for the remnant of European Jewry not destroyed during the Holocaust. About 6 million Jews perished while millions more were interned in labor camps or survived in hiding in unspeakable conditions.

"I'm not sure I'm happy with this beauty pageant because pageants objectify women and also because there is a sensational dimension. The survivors' suffering is on display in a very public way," said Dalia Sivan, who heads the Haifa branch of Amcha, the national Israeli center for the psychosocial support of Holocaust survivors and their children. The views she expressed were her own, she said.

"If the organizers wanted to do a beauty contest, why limit it to Holocaust survivors?" said Martin Auerbach, national clinical director of Amcha, who said he was unfamiliar with the competition's criteria or participants. "Why single them out?"

"Greenberg encouraged the survivors we care for to dress nicely and to take care of themselves," said Shimon Sabag, Helping Hand's founder. "They told us, 'When we look better, we feel better.' "

Sabag said the pageant "focuses on inner beauty more than outer beauty." The contestants "share their experiences. They share how, despite all they have been through, they have built meaningful lives."

Greenberg said the participants "were stripped of their childhood or adolescence. The evening gives them a chance to transcend their trauma and have fun."

David Parsons, media liaison for the International Christian Embassy, said one of the goals of the pageant is to draw the public's and media's attention to the needs of the survivors, many of whom live in poverty or close to it.

"The pageant focuses not only on what they went through but on what they're going through now," Parsons said.

The finalists enjoyed being pampered. Two hours before Thursday's event, volunteer makeup artists from cosmetics companies applied lipstick, blush and mascara to the contestants' faces and did their hair. Then they helped the older women, some of them physically infirm, into dresses and jewelry suitable for a wedding.

In 2006 her home was destroyed by a rocket launched by Hezbollah in Lebanon. She recently moved into the Yad Ezer Home for Survivors sponsored by the embassy and Helping Hand. She brought her son, who has a mental disability, with her.

Some royal watchers were disappointed

George, the third in line to the British throne, was born on July 22 amid a global media frenzy, reflecting the international popularity of his parents and ongoing fascination with the British royal family.

The royal couple, known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge since their spectacular wedding in April 2011, gave the world the first glimpse of their newborn son when they left a London hospital the day after his birth but he has not been seen since.

However, instead of a traditional formal photograph for George's first official photo shoot, the couple released two shots taken by the duchess's father, Michael Middleton, in early August in the garden of her family home in Berkshire.

The second photo shows the couple sitting on a picnic blanket with Kate again holding a sleeping Prince George. With them is their beloved black cocker spaniel, Lupo, while the Middleton family's golden retriever, Tilly, lolls at one side.

The photos are a far cry from the formal photographs released of Prince William a month after his birth in 1982 in which he was alert and wearing a long, laced gown. The pictures with his mother, the late Princess Diana, and father Prince Charles were taken by his great-uncle, photographer Lord Snowden.

Some royal watchers were disappointed that the first photos released of Prince George failed to show his face and were not of a professional quality.

But the decision to eschew tradition for a more informal approach was seen as true to form for William and Kate, both 31, who have tried to break away from royal traditions of rigid formality, be it by changing diapers themselves or William driving his family away from the hospital.

"They do like to do things in their own way and that is not a bad thing but in this particular instance they may come in for a bit of flack over this," Joe Little, managing director of Majesty magazine, told Reuters.

"People would have liked a better look at George and you can't see his face clearly. These are not much more than family snapshots and they are not of a professional standard."

The photos were released a day after Prince William gave his first interview since the birth, describing his son as a "little bit of a rascal" who does not want to go to sleep.

"As a few fathers might know I'm actually quite looking forward to going back to work,Formal Wholesale Cheap Designer Long Evening Dresses and gowns will have you looking your best." joked William, who is second in line to the throne after his father.Doublting where to buy Wholesale Bridesmaid gowns online?

Now all they needed was the dress

It played out somewhere between a Keystone Kops comedy and one of those movies about a guardian angel – and it started with a 911 call.

The bride-to-be was packing her car near her Kent, Wash., home for her wedding, went back inside for another load and came out to find her wedding dress had been stolen.

That was Sunday morning. The wedding was scheduled for Sunday evening. Our dressestmall offer are large variety of Prom Dresses, Sobbing and raging,You can find quality Wholesale Cheap Designer Prom Dresses Online and evening gowns. she called 911 to report the theft. Candice, the dispatcher who answered at the regional call center, was a five-year veteran, who had handled people in crisis before.

She calmed the woman, and asked for details to pass to police officers for a theft report.

“I finally figured out what was going on, and asked when the ceremony was scheduled,” she said. “When she said ‘today,’ my heart broke in two for her.”

Candice first dispatched a police officer to meet the woman. As soon as she disconnected the call, she turned to her supervisor and asked a question likely never heard in a 911 center before.

“Can I offer her my dress?” she asked. “All through the call I was thinking, ‘I have a dress ...’ ”

Candice and Brandon were married 18 months ago. Tall and lean, she had no idea if her dress would fit this bride-to-be whom she’d never met. But her supervisor said she could offer it.

“I talked to the officer responding and told him to tell her I’d offer her my dress,” Candice said.

Candice called her husband, who wasn’t supposed to be home. He should have been camping, but hadn’t felt well. Brandon emailed a picture of his wife wearing the dress, and Candice sent it to the responding police officer’s telephone.

He showed it to the woman, who thought it might fit.

Now all they needed was the dress, which was stored somewhere in her parents’ home in nearby Gig Harbor – but her parents were out of town.

Candice sent her parents, Calvin and Patty Luce, the kind of text message no one wants to get. “It said ‘Emergency! Call me.’ and gave her number at the 911 center,” Calvin Luce said.

“We called and the first thing Candice said was ‘Everything is all right.Find everything from Wholesale Designer Wedding Apparel online, Where’s my wedding dress?’ ”

It was in the Luce attic. Candice called her husband again and asked if he’d drive to Gig Harbor to get the dress. First, he’d have to get a key from her brother, buys and sells preloved designer Cheap 2013 mother of the bride gowns online, James. That went awry when James gave her husband the wrong key.

One extra trip later, the two got the right key and the dress, and delivered the gown to the groom’s home.

A few hours later came the happy ending – the wedding, complete with a bride in a wedding gown.

“Candice is an extraordinary person, long and Wholesale Cheap Designer Short Evening Dresses in every length from classic ball.” said her call center operations manager, Vonnie Mayer. “She had something someone else needed, and she made it happen.”

Candice asked not to be identified by her full name, for professional and safety reasons. She also didn’t want the attention focused on her.

“She has always been very generous, always thinking of other people,” Calvin Luce said. “It’s not a surprise she’d do this, or believe that God put all the pieces together.”

Which is exactly what she believes.

“If I hadn’t taken that call, I wouldn’t have heard about it,” Candice said. “If she wasn’t my size, it wouldn’t have worked. If my husband had gone camping instead of staying home, I couldn’t have gotten to the dress.

“God does awesome things, and this woman, whose wedding day might have been ruined, had her special day, after all.”
