Contemporary Thai designers have shown a steady record when creating either costume or high-fashion jewelry. By the use of traditional and natural materials with gemstones and precious metals they are able to create imaginative pieces unique to the country. Many designers have also chosen to travel abroad to expand and improve their skills in Europe and the united states, often returning home starting jewelry schools, their own jewelry lines or working in another sectors of the industry.

At present, Bangkok's jewelry district is the place to find jewelry makers, retailers, gemstone dealers and wholesalers. Comprising of four areas, namely Yaowarat, Charoen Krung, Silom and Mahesak, the district is also a popular district attraction for its concentration of temples, shrines and good restaurants. The numerous shops on the district's streets cater to the casual shopper, tourists, wholesalers and traders alike. In the Pratunam area, a popular shopping center housing mainly wholesalers, a freshly renovated shopping mall devotes its ground floor to jewelry and accessories.

So when traveling to Thailand, a small piece of Thai jewelry will surely make a great souvenir that reflects not only the current level of artistry of the country, but also its past and traditions.
